"newton's cradle"

Grade 4-6

By:  Akisha Gumbs, Recardo Blair, Shakhoya Richards (Missing)

Abstract:

The Newton’s cradle experiment is a device that demonstrates the conservation of momentum and the conservation of energy swinging spheres. When one sphere at the end is lifted and released, it strikes the stationary spheres, transmitting a force that pushes the last sphere upward. The last sphere swings back and strikes the nearly stationary spheres, repeating the effect in the opposite direction.

"Spoiled Potatoes / Spoiled Children"

Grade 4-6

By:  Brii Varlack, Christina Marks, Celine Frett

Abstract:

Grade 5’s Science project is based on the old African proverb, “A rotten potato spoils the whole bag”. The project aims to find out how the old African proverb a rotten potato spoils the whole bag can be interpreted by today’s children. Students will carry out a lab experiment to see what happens to other potatoes when they are placed with one that is spoiled.
