"the life cycle of a plant and the food chain"
Grade K-3
By: Sadiah Jones
Abstract:
How do plants grow to become producers and who eats whom in the wild?
The objective of this project is to show that plants are the first part of the food chain and decomposers are the last part of the food chain. I created a model of plants and animals in the wild and experimented to show how plants grow. I planted a tomato seed in the soil, placed it in the sun, and watered it daily for three weeks. I observed an adult tomato plant, as well as animals around Tortola for three weeks. I saw the seed grow into a seedling. I saw a ladybug eating the adult plants, and my parents and a chicken ate the tomato fruit. I saw dogs killing and eating chicken. I saw the rest of the dead chicken being eaten by flies and insects until the bones started to show. There were earthworms under the dead chicken. This project shows the food chain begins with plants and ends with decomposers.
